Bolt action and good aim too

I got a lot done today. I went to the bank and saw a guy from ADP. He pitched me a pretty good deal about using them for payroll and handling taxes for employees. Then I remembered what Joel was telling me about a car dealership that he does business for. They aren't happy with the hosting provider (take a stab in the dark who hosts them) so I pitch them Solar Dragons services. Josh (the owner) jumped on board and told me he would call me back soon. I hope he does this week.

I went to the comic store and talked to the owner, Dan. He told me a week or so ago that he would get control of the store's website. The site needs help to say the least. I asked him if I could give him a list of suggestions and he was ok with that.

I called Randy and let him know I officially have www.randyhoyle.com for him. I also told him that we have to make the site soon so things can get moving. We're going to meet on Wednesday to get things hashed out. He said something about some templates but he still needs someone to service the site for him.

I have to call Eric about his site as well. The 'Coming Soon' is up but its time for everything else to get up and running.

Ohh... Right....

I'm sitting here wondering why I can't put up the 'Coming Soon' page for Tip Top Senior Services. So I call Go Daddy. They tell me that The domain name isn't going to the proper server. Until it does, I can't upload.

Ohhh... Right...

I've been sitting here racking my brain for the past week trying to figure out what's going on. I've been trying to set up some ad strategies for all my clients and redesigning my site to start a link campaign for myself. It was slipping my mind what to do. Well i'm glad that's out the way.

I've been thinking about Robert Morris though. I wonder if everything is going smooth with the newsletter. I haven't been in contact with them in a while. They told me they would contact me, so I'll just have to be patient. I got enough going on right now. I hope I have the site redesigned before they call.

Material Enhancers

Demitri Martin is hilarious. He's like the next 'Seinfeld'. I saw the Comedy Central Stand Up a couple of nights ago and was crying for half an hour. I had to take a break from business and post this.

Brainstorm

I was going through the competition in the area, checking out some of the sites that have been done. I remember people saying that they donate sites to different places. I was thinking in the back of my mind about Don Andreas. I wonder if I could donate a site to them and give them business cards with the new website on it. Then a tracker would tell me how many hits it gets and if people would go to my site from there.

An article I red was telling me about page rank and different subject in different areas may require different amout of backlinks to get a decent rating. So since I'm in northwest indiana, I think I would need a different amout of backlinks to get some page rank versus the people in Chicago.

I'm not sure when I would want to approach the owners of Don Andreas. Plus I'm still redesigning my site as well. I think I want to get things done with Tip Top Senior Services and American Classic as soon as possible so I can focus on my site. Then I might see if Don Andreas is up for going online.

Progress

I was having trouble transfering Randy's site to a new hosting service but we got it straightened out. I should be in control of his site by the middle of next week. Meanwhile, I'm working on a 'Coming Soon' page for Tip Top Senior Services.

I found another way to advertise. They submit my site through a program and people can click on it. Once I reach so many hits, they disconnect me. I emailed them to find out if this was an automated progran to generate hits or are people really seeing my site and clicking on it. They emailed me back and showed me how to track the original IP address. That was pretty cool of them.

Well, back to work...

Genesis

The last few days have been pretty busy. I met with Randy and let him know the domain name was being transfered. We discussed what he wanted to do after the redesign of his site was done. I hope I can convince him to get a link champaign going. He has good page rank but all his competitors have more backlinks and still a higher page rank.

I also met with a new client, Eric. He wants a site for seniors. I've started setting that up. I got the domain name, set up the hosting and his email. Over the next week or so, I'll show him some designs and get things set up.

I found out later that just the domain name was transfering. When that happens, his site at Doppler will stay with them and it will switch over to my hosting, which is empty. I have roughly 60 hrs to get something up there. I think I know what I'm going to do. I hope it works...

I'm going to call the local papers to start advertising in the classified section. I also am planning a redesign and then I will do a link champaign for myself.

So it begins...

Move Along

Well the new year is in and things seem to be on the up and up. I got a call from a guy that wants two sites. I set an appointment for Monday at 9am. I'm also working for Randy, Vince's broker. He was hosting with Doppler but had conflicts with them, like everyone else does. Some time last week, his site wasn't up anymore. So I let him and Vince know what to do so I could take the site from Doppler and work for Randy. So far, so good. I started the transfer yesterday, so we'll see how it goes.

Vince and I were talking about having a giveaway on our sites. I think that can really drive traffic to the sites. I personally am shooting for a May/June redesign. I want to focus on educational prizes and really capitalize on the 'Back to School' craze that'll be going on. I also plan on having some package deals that will make things easier for clients to pick what they want/need. If there can be a continuous incoming of people for business, I don't think I'll get overwhelmed. I'm sure now that the holidays are over, things will settle down and it will be back to business as usual.

I'm still waiting for Robert Morris to contact me. I think they will have some decent business roll in. To be honest, I think the High Roller are in Chicago. However, now that I'm in NWI (Northwest Indiana), I want to take advantage of the fact that the businesses out here don't have good online representation. I hope I can get more NWI business before Robert Morris throws Chicago business my way. NWI really needs an online presence but doesn't want to pay Chicago prices.

I hope I can create a happy medium.
